Who We Are?
JOAN ALINDA HOMES FOR THE VULNERBALE (JAHV)
Joan Alinda Homes for Vulnerable (hereafter JAHV) came about because of the increasing number of orphans in Uganda, especially in Kampala and its suburbs. However, our target group is not only orphans, but our help extends to all unprivileged children. Children may have parents, but these parents, for one reason or another, are not in a position to fully care for their children.
About Joan Alinda
The Inception of JAHV
Alice Beatrice Lutaaya is a dedicated social worker and the founder of Joan Alinda Homes for Vulnerables (JAHV). Originally from Uganda, Alice witnessed the hardships faced by disadvantaged families firsthand. Her life took a personal turn on May 8, 1983, when she gave birth to a premature baby girl with a heart defect at Mengo Hospital. Despite being a single mother with limited financial means, Alice was determined to provide the necessary care for her daughter.
In 1997, Alice and her daughter relocated to Denmark, where Joan underwent vital heart surgery. Unfortunately, Joan faced complications from her condition and, despite medical efforts, passed away on May 18, 2013, shortly after her 32nd birthday.
Alice's experiences as a mother and social worker inspired her to create Joan Alinda Homes for Vulnerable in honor of her daughter. With a deep understanding of the struggles faced by underprivileged families in Uganda, Alice aims to offer support and resources to help them thrive. Her work highlights her resilience, compassion, and unwavering dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of others.
